A small kitten ran into a backyard looking for a quick snack, but instead found the perfect forever home.
Meet Spruce, the cute little kitten who managed to find his way into Alexia Elliot’s care through a stray cat in her neighborhood. Alexia, a devoted volunteer at Little Wanderers NYC, has been looking after community cats by providing food, shelter, and ensuring they are spayed or neutered.
One day, a stray cat brought Spruce, a sweet orange kitten, to Alexia’s backyard and left him on the porch near the food bowls. It seemed like the cat knew that Alexia would take care of the little one. At just six weeks old, Spruce was already showing his friendly and gentle nature, unlike other feral kittens.
According to Alexia, Spruce was not only curious but also very calm and not at all aggressive. His unique personality quickly won over Alexia’s heart, making him stand out from the rest.
One day, a stray cat in the Bronx, New York, brought a little orange kitten to a backyard under the care of Alexa Elliot. This small feline soon made the backyard his daily hangout spot, playfully running around as if it was his own personal playground. While keeping a safe distance from Alexa, the kitten showed interest and curiosity in its surroundings.
With patience and determination, Alexa started the process of gaining the kitten’s trust by setting up traps. Due to the kitten’s inherent trust in humans, it didn’t take long for Alexa to successfully capture him.
Space, the playful kitten, raced around the backyard with a strong sense of ownership. However, once he was brought inside and settled into a cozy pen, his timid personality emerged. He was hesitant and tried to find a hiding spot, unfamiliar with human interaction. Gradually, with some comforting gestures and delicious food, he started to open up and build a bond with his new caretakers.
Upon his return, he held back from meals until he was eventually rescued by Alexa Elliot. She gave him a relaxing bath, treated his infected eye, and wrapped him up in a towel like a cozy “purrito.” With lots of cuddles and pets, Spruce began to feel at ease and started to show his playful side after some time.
After finally getting a bath, Spruce felt refreshed and pampered. He had a ton of energy, which he used by zooming around the house and playfully attacking his toys. Living in a cozy home with plenty of food made him incredibly happy.
As soon as he discovered the joy of being cuddled, he became obsessed with seeking attention from his human companions.
In just a short period of time, a small kitten named Spruce underwent an incredible transformation from a timid outdoor cat to a playful and affectionate ball of fur. Thanks to the intervention of the organization Little Wanderers NYC, Spruce found himself in the loving arms of a large family who welcomed him into their home just in time for the festive season.
Spruce is now living a wonderful life with his new savior after being a stray on the streets of the Bronx just weeks ago. Little Wanderers NYC happily shared how he now has a loving forever home filled with furry siblings and human friends. Now, he’s happily spending his first winter indoors, racing around with his new companions and basking in the warmth of his new family.
In his permanent and loving home, Spruce is being taken care of by Alexa, who ensures the local community cats are comfortable with heated shelters and regular meals. Little Wanderers NYC works together as a team to ensure that every cat, like Spruce, is off the streets for good. Saving a furry friend truly does require a community effort!
