A cat with large paws transformed into a gentle and loving soul after being rescued by kindhearted individuals. Today, he is living like royalty, embracing his second chance at life.
Barbabe, the unique 4-year-old cat with extra toes and curled ears, found himself in a veterinary clinic when his owners no longer wanted to care for him. He was struggling with using the litter box due to a urinary obstruction, but when the veterinarian recommended surgery, his owners declined.
Thankfully, Jade, a veterinary technician, stepped in and offered to take Barbabe in. After the owners agreed to surrender him, the clinic staff quickly got to work, identifying the issue and starting treatment to help the sweet cat.
In hopes of finding Barbabe the best possible care, Jade reached out to Chatons Orphelins Montreal, an animal rescue organization, for assistance.
The veterinary team at Chato’s Orphelins Montreal came to the rescue of a cat in need. They quickly organized medical care and found a foster family to care for the cat. Jade volunteered to bring the cat, now named Barnebe, to Montreal on a two-hour drive. Barnebe had a heart murmur and had been on a poor diet for a long time. Thanks to the team’s efforts, his blockage was resolved, and he was now pain-free and able to use the litter box again as he recovered.
Bartholomew was placed on a new eating plan and moved into a cozy and peaceful space where he could nap all day. “It really took a team effort to make this happen.”
Two weeks later, Bartholomew was a whole new kitty, with a better appetite and more energy than before.
Barпabe was given the care he needed, ultimately saving his life. Described as timid around other cats, he would often retreat to a corner to avoid them, preferring to be the sole prince in the house and the center of attention. With his large paws and gentle demeanor, Barпabe enjoys taking things at his own pace in everything he does.
Barney has oversized feet, additional digits, and distinctive curled ears. Despite facing challenges, Barney remains gentle-natured and is beginning to find delight in life’s simple pleasures. “Although he is a substantial cat, he is delicate and requires a specific diet to keep him healthy. He will receive an abundance of love and happiness going forward.”
Barney enjoys the peacefulness of his home and the presence of his family members when lounging on a cozy couch. He takes pleasure in observing our activities and making eye contact like a miniature inspector. When playing, he thrives on encouragement and loves playing with toys that contain catnip.
He adores his new catnip-infused toy, CelineCrom. When we’re running late with his meal, he reminds us with gentle meows. Barnabe enjoys his scratching pad, using his big paws (and thumbs) to exercise and rubbing his face against it.
With a cozy abode, caring humans, and top-notch care, Barпabe has truly blossomed into his authentic self. He now gleefully leaps onto furniture and fearlessly explores new heights, thanks to his newfound confidence. His favorite spot has become the “feline entertainment system” by the window.

Barney has discovered some of his beloved vintage spots around the house, surveying his kingdom like a true prince.
He has truly become a cherished pet named CelineCrom thanks to the dedicated veterinary team that never abandoned him. Baranabe now gets to enjoy some well-deserved rest and relaxation, lounging on his throne and observing the passing day.
