When a tubby 9-year-old feline strutted into the Humane Society of Carroll County in Maryland, he definitely turned heads with his impressive size. Let’s introduce Edgar, the colossal cat who weighed in at a whopping 20 pounds.

Edgar ended up at the shelter because his previous family couldn’t keep up with him around their young children.
When Edgar arrived, the shelter staff were impressed by his striking appearance.
Michelle Fidler, the head of animal care at the Carroll County Humane Society, said:
“Edgar was such a sweetheart when he came to us and he handled his arrival with flying colors.”

Due to his impressive size, Fidler decided it would be great to post his photo on the shelter’s Facebook page for their followers to see. What she didn’t expect was the overwhelming amount of love and attention he would attract. Fidler shared, “When an animal arrives at our shelter, we immediately start working on finding them a forever home. With Edgar, we launched a social media campaign.” To everyone’s amazement, the campaign resulted in a successful adoption for Edgar within just three hours.

Fidler expressed surprise at the huge response to the post, saying, “I never expected such a strong reaction.” The post quickly reached over a million views.
One person captivated by Edgar’s photo on Facebook was Jenna Marie. She was amazed by his unique appearance and couldn’t look away. “When I saw his picture on Facebook on Tuesday, I was stunned. I had never seen a cat like him before, and he really stood out to me. He’s stunning!”
Jenna suggested to her boyfriend that they should consider getting a feline companion for their cat, and he was thrilled at the idea. “We decided to visit the Humane Society to see if we could bring him home with us.”
