Pregnant Dog Saves Four from Devastating Blaze at Hospice Center.

It’s not just humans who can be heroes, animals can be too! A hospice in Leningrad, Russia recently experienced a fire with four patients still inside. Luckily, the fire department was able to respond quickly and extinguish the flames. Although a few people were injured, no fatalities occurred. The one responsible for saving lives? None other than a pregnant dog named Matilda!

The private hospice’s four occupants were all successfully rescued from the fire by the fire department, but it wasn’t until later that Matilda, the owner’s dog who is pregnant with puppies, was also saved. Matilda bravely sprang into action when she noticed the building was ablaze, despite her condition. She pulled down the fire alarm, barked loudly to alert everyone inside, and helped them evacuate. Fortunately, the people made it out unscathed thanks to Matilda’s quick thinking and the timely arrival of the firefighters. Sadly, Matilda suffered from smoke inhalation and collapsed in the building. However, two volunteers, Elena Kalinina and Alexander Tsinkevich, eventually found her unconscious and rescued her from the burning structure. Matilda was then taken to a veterinarian for treatment.

Matilda, a brave survivor of a devastating fire, receives medical attention from a compassionate veterinarian who carefully tends to her facial wounds, which have left her fur and nose badly burned. Despite enduring severe injuries to her abdomen, neck, and face, Matilda found solace in the care of volunteers who took her to the Vasilek shelter in St. Petersburg. Despite the pain she experienced, Matilda endured everything with courage and resilience, even licking her own wounds while on the vet’s table. In order to help her heal, the vet applied bandages to every burn on her body, including those on her face and ears, which necessitated the use of gauze. The extent of her injuries required that her chest, abdomen, and limbs also be covered by bandages.

Animal activists from the Vasilek shelter in St. Petersburg are currently battling to save a dog named Matilda after she sustained severe burns to her face, neck, and abdomen. Despite her injuries, a fertility specialist confirmed that her puppies are alive and healthy. Matilda is expected to give birth sometime between November 25th and 28th; however, the exact number of pups she’s carrying remains unknown due to her size. The shelter continues to monitor her progress and provide her with the necessary care and support during this challenging time.

Matilda suffered serious burns on her face, neck, and belly, but thankfully her puppies are doing well. Unfortunately, due to her injuries, she won’t be able to nurse them herself. The hospice staff is now searching for a nanny to step in and take care of the little ones. Meanwhile, Matilda’s owner was also injured in the fire and won’t be able to look after her until she’s fully recovered.
