Greg shared with us that Mochi was originally bred and born in China as a munchkin kitten. Afterward, she was purchased by a family in the Boston area. Unfortunately, not long after joining her new family, Mochi began experiencing a peculiar illness that eventually led to necrosis. The seriousness of her condition prompted her owners to surrender her to an extraordinary rescue shelter known as MSPCA-Angell. However, by that point, her condition had significantly worsened. In order to enhance her quality of life, the veterinarians at the shelter had to amputate one of her hind legs, along with both ears and her tail. Additionally, Mochi also developed ringworm during this period.
After spending a period of time with her previous owners, they made the decision to bring her over to MSPCA-Angell, a special rescue facility that had all the necessary resources to provide her with the required care she needed.
Following a challenging journey, Mochi discovered herself under the compassionate care of the shelter’s doctors for an impressive two-month period. Despite her initial struggles, the medical team’s exceptional efforts resulted in a remarkable recovery. During this time, she remained in quarantine, awaiting her restoration to full health. It was during this phase that my incredible animal-loving fiancée, Natalia, stumbled upon the shelter’s adoption listing and couldn’t resist falling deeply in love with Mochi. Overwhelmed with excitement, Natalia promptly submitted an application for Mochi’s adoption.
To our delight, the shelter contacted us the very next day, informing us that we had been chosen to welcome Mochi into our loving home. Natalia couldn’t contain her joy. Trying to maintain composure, I suggested that we meet Mochi before finalizing our decision. However, the moment we laid eyes on her during our visit on that memorable January 22nd, 2023, both Natalia and I were swept away by an overwhelming wave of affection. And now, our beloved companion has been by our side for just over two months, completing our family with her resilient spirit, despite having lost one hind leg, both ears, and her tail due to the advanced state of her condition.

Greg affectionately described her as incredibly affectionate, full of energy, and always brimming with enthusiasm. He mentioned that Mochi thoroughly enjoys playing indoor games, such as an exciting game of hide and seek.
