After enduring a difficult and challenging journey, Mochi found herself receiving exceptional care from the shelter’s doctors for an impressive duration of two months. Despite her initial struggles, the efforts of the medical team led to a remarkable recovery. During this time, Mochi remained in quarantine, eagerly awaiting her restoration to full health. It was during this phase that my loving and animal-loving partner, Natalia, stumbled upon the shelter’s adoption listing and couldn’t resist falling head over heels in love with Mochi. Filled with excitement, Natalia wasted no time in submitting an application for Mochi’s adoption.
Much to our joy, the shelter reached out to us the very next day, informing us that we had been chosen to provide a loving home for Mochi. Natalia couldn’t contain her happiness. Wanting to be practical, I suggested that we should meet Mochi before making a final decision. However, the moment we laid eyes on her during our visit on that unforgettable January 22nd, 2023, both Natalia and I were overwhelmed with a rush of affection. In that instant, we knew that Mochi had found her forever place with us. And now, our cherished companion has been with us for a little over two months, completing our family with her strong spirit, despite the loss of one hind leg, both ears, and her tail due to the advanced state of her condition.
During a span of two months, I underwent medical treatment provided by the doctors at the shelter. Throughout this period, I remained confined in isolation.
Afterwards, we became intrigued by Mochi’s unique personality and the daily activities she partakes in at her new home. Greg affectionately described her as incredibly affectionate, lively, and constantly brimming with energy. He also mentioned that Mochi thoroughly enjoys engaging in games within the confines of their house, including an entertaining session of hide and seek. Additionally, she expresses herself quite vocally, often using a combination of meows, chirps, and squeaks to communicate. However, Mochi’s loving nature truly shines when she seeks out belly rubs, head scratches, and even snuggles up cozily on Natalia’s head at night. Being the center of attention and welcoming new people are two of her favorite things, as she fearlessly embarks on exciting adventures, always driven by her insatiable curiosity. Greg kindly informed us that Mochi’s day-to-day life revolves around relaxation and minimal stress to prevent any potential flare-ups of her autoimmune reactions. Typically, she chooses to curl up and sleep with us on the bed or in her cozy kitty bed nearby, and surprisingly, she enjoys a peaceful night’s sleep. In the mornings, after she has had her meal, we partake in playtime to help her release her endless supply of energy. Whenever Mochi desires some playtime, she cleverly meows at us and entices us to join her in a fun game of hide and seek. Greg recounted the antics of our furry friend during playtime. He explained that she has an endearing habit of teasing us by running away whenever we approach her. Interestingly, she also has a fascination with watching TV with us, and her love for indulging in wet food is unparalleled.
She is filled with immense affection and takes immense delight in receiving gentle belly rubs and loving head scratches.
We also asked if there were any particular care instructions that she needed based on her previous medical history. The owner reassured us and said, “Luckily, besides the precautions I mentioned before, there isn’t a significant need for any special care on a daily basis. She behaves just like any other regular cat; in fact, I don’t think she even realizes that she’s missing any of her limbs! She loves climbing the couch, chairs, and even our bed with a lot of excitement. Oh, and she also enjoys sleeping on Natalia’s head during the night!”
