In late May, the Humane Society of Lebanon County (HSLC) in Pennsylvania received a heart-wrenching notification from local authorities regarding a dog trapped in a storm drain. Initially appearing lifeless, a glimmer of hope emerged when the dog raised its head as the grate was removed. Hastily, a volunteer and a staff member hastily made their way to the vicinity, well-prepared for the urgent medical attention the dog so obviously required. The scene was truly distressing: a feeble canine, huddled and barely hanging on to life.
The team skillfully rescued a dog named Buddy, who had been missing for three weeks. Buddy, a 15-year-old dog, was quickly transported to an emergency veterinarian for urgent care. Fortunately, luck was on their side as they were able to locate Buddy’s owner, and the process of reuniting them began.
Buddy received three days of emergency, life-saving care that miraculously led to gradual improvement in his condition. Despite being elderly and requiring regular medical follow-ups such as ultrasounds, x-rays, and ophthalmologist appointments, Buddy showed remarkable progress. However, due to his advanced age and inability to be sedated, finding a patient and loving foster home emerged as the best solution for him.
