Heartwarming Footage of Determined French Bulldog Overcoming Adversity with the Help of Technology

A heartwarming video shows a disabled French bulldog named Luna facing challenges with playing and jumping before she received a special dog wheelchair. Luna, who experienced a spinal cord issue in the past, was unable to use her hind legs. Now with her new wheels, Luna happily runs around and even chases after geese, bringing joy to her owner Eli Mumm in Denver, Colorado.

Luna, the dog on the right, suffered a spinal injury when she was young which left her back legs paralyzed. A video shows Luna using her front paws to drag herself around her owner Eli Mumm’s house.

The heartwarming footage captures Luna’s struggle to grab a treat by jumping, only to get stuck sitting down. The family’s cat, Tipsy, takes advantage of Luna’s inability to chase after him.

Despite unsuccessful attempts with physiotherapy and acupuncture, Ms. Mumm managed to raise $1,600 through crowdfunding to purchase a therapy cart for Luna. This cart helps strengthen Luna’s back legs as she moves around.

Recording Luna’s progress on video, 31-year-old Ms. Mumm hopes to see Luna go from taking her first steps in the cart to running after local wildlife. She envisions a future where Luna is able to walk on her own once again.

Tipsy, the beloved household feline, enjoyed taunting Luna, the energetic bulldog, with playful antics, much to Luna’s frustration as she attempted to catch her nimble feline companion.

Kitted out: But Ms Mumm from Denver, Colorado, crowdfunded to buy this doggy wheelchair

Equipped and ready: Ms. Mumm, a resident of Denver, Colorado, took initiative and raised funds through crowdfunding to purchase a wheelchair for her beloved dog. She shared, “Initially, we explored physiotherapy and acupuncture, but she was not responsive to water and acupuncture treatment. I was fine even if she couldn’t walk again because my love for her remains unchanged.” She mentioned that before using the new therapy cart, the old one had issues with the wheels popping off when tightened. The new cart securely fastens her dog’s legs to the pedals, syncing their movement with the cart’s wheels, providing a walking-like motion to help strengthen her legs over time.

When physiotherapy and acupuncture failed, Ms Mumm crowd-funded the $1,600 (around £1,220) for the 'adorable troublemaker' to get a therapy cart that strengthens her back legs as she moves

Now the pair go out together, whether to chase geese in the park or just stroll along

After trying physiotherapy and acupuncture without success, Ms. Mumm turned to crowdfunding to raise the $1,600 needed to purchase a therapy cart for her beloved pet, who she lovingly refers to as an ‘adorable troublemaker’. With the cart helping to strengthen her back legs, the duo now enjoy going out together, whether it’s to chase geese in the park or simply take a leisurely stroll.

Commenting on her pet’s progress, Ms. Mumm said, “She’s such a little troublemaker. Watching her walk down the path and navigate steps in her new wheelchair for the first time was truly heartwarming. It took her a bit of time to get used to it, but after just five minutes of practice in the apartment, she had already mastered it. She’s incredibly confident and determined, and I have no doubt that she will walk again in the future.”

Progress: Ms Mumm said: 'She's so determined. I believe she'll be able to walk again in the future'

Update: Ms. Mumm expressed her admiration, stating: “She’s incredibly persistent. I have no doubt that she will regain the ability to walk.”

Luna now whizzes around on two wheels which help to strengthen her back legs

Luna can now be seen speeding around on her new set of wheels, which not only provide mobility but also help her back legs get stronger. Despite the odds, her owner remains optimistic about her recovery, saying “there’s a 50/50 chance, but you never know. I’m staying hopeful.” Ms. Mumm’s cat, Tipsy, also faces challenges due to his disability, cerebellar hypoplasia, which affects his coordination. Despite his wobbly walk, Ms. Mumm affectionately calls him Tipsy because “he walks like he’s drunk.” She believes in giving every pet a chance, showcasing her caring and compassionate personality.
