The British Shorthair is one of the most ancient cat breeds known. They’re thought to have originated from European domestic cats imported into Britain by the invading Romans in the first century AD.
The breed is known to be good-natured and calm, explaining why it remains the most popular cat in Britain and one of the most sought after breeds around the globe.
They are an easygoing – though not as active and playful as many – but sweet-natured and devoted to their owners, making them a favourite of animal trainers too.
