Adventures of a Texas Highway Overpass Kitty: A Heartfelt Tale of Finding Home

Cat Found Stuck On A Texas Highway Overpass Embarks On A Heartwarming Journey Home

Cats are known for their love of climbing and high places, often exploring their surroundings from above. In San Antonio, Texas, a daring cat found itself in a risky situation when it got stranded on a ledge above a highway overpass. Local Animal Care Services (ACS) were called to the scene to rescue the orange cat.

The rescuers carefully approached the cat, who was dangerously perched on the edge of the overpass, to prevent it from jumping in fear. The shelter recounted the dramatic rescue on their Facebook page, highlighting the need for quick action and caution during the operation.

Despite their best intentions, Bridges the ginger cat was initially apprehensive when approached by the rescuers. He expressed his displeasure by hissing loudly and casting wary glances their way.
Nevertheless, the dedicated rescue team did not let Bridges’ unfriendly behavior deter them. Instead, they recognized his need for space and approached him slowly and cautiously, making sure not to cause any alarm. With gentle gestures and soothing words, they were able to build a rapport with him over time and gain his trust.

After building trust with his rescuers, Bridges started to unwind. His tense body eased up, and his hissing ceased. Step by step, they came closer and carefully lifted him to safety. But the journey was not finished yet, as Bridges required immediate medical treatment. It was uncertain how long this unfortunate creature had gone without sustenance or hydration.

Concerned about his well-being, the officers quickly took him to the emergency veterinarian. The Animal Care Services (ACS) team stated: “After safely rescuing him, the officers took daredevil Bridges to the Animal Emergency Room (AER) for a thorough medical evaluation, as they were uncertain about how long he had gone without food or water while on the ledge.”

Thanks to the help of Facebook, Bridges was able to receive the care he needed. Despite having a respiratory infection, he was in good shape. The team took him to their shelter where he was given a nourishing meal and a chance to rest. In an update, they mentioned that Bridges showed a healthy appetite but also had a mild upper respiratory infection. Nevertheless, he was well on his way to recovery and feeling more like his usual self in the adoptable cat building.

According to Facebook, as Bridges was being taken care of by the ACS staff, they received some amazing news. It was discovered that Bridges was not just any random stray cat…
He was actually a beloved cat named Oliver who had been missing and his family had been tirelessly looking for him. When someone saw the shelter’s post about Bridges, they informed Oliver’s family, who promptly rushed to the shelter.
They were filled with happiness when Oliver responded to his name, a moment that ACS captured and shared in a heartwarming update:
“Their eyes filled with tears of joy as their dear Olly came running to them when they called out his name!”
