When Terra was first saved, she had very little fur and was extremely frightened. Her fur loss was caused by a skin issue that probably occurred due to her previous family’s neglect. The adorable pup had a long road ahead of her to regain her health, and she had no understanding of love from humans.
Luckily, a compassionate veterinarian from West Sussex, United Kingdom stepped in to help Terra during her recovery. Terra had experienced significant hair loss due to her battle with mange, a distressing and enduring skin condition caused by mites. This condition typically leaves animals without fur and plagued by painful sores.
Jessie DeFreitas, a veterinary aide, became smitten with Terra, captivated by her “gorgeous eyes.” Recognizing that Terra’s skin issues were a result of neglect and mistreatment by a heartless and unscrupulous family, she was determined to offer her support.
Jessie had created a cozy haven with four feline companions and a rescued canine in her humble abode. However, Jessie’s heart was so empathetic that she couldn’t resist making space for another furry friend, Terra. If it weren’t for the compassionate decision of the veterinarians, Terra’s life would have been in jeopardy. Back then, he affectionately referred to her as Honey, but he quickly realized that the nickname didn’t quite fit her. This was because, during the initial phase, Terra was rather grouchy and showed no interest in playing whatsoever. She definitely didn’t embody the sweetness of honey, so her name was changed to Terra.
As time went on and Terra was successfully treated for her scabies, she gradually became more affectionate. Eventually, her fur fully regrew, showcasing a beautiful blend of brown and white. Alongside her physical transformation, she also underwent a remarkable change in her disposition – she became much friendlier and sweeter than ever before.
Jessie had already been responsible for a variety of animals, but she’s thrilled that she welcomed Terra into her life too. Being a veterinary assistant, her affection for animals is unwavering, and she couldn’t resist assisting a distressed pup.
Initially, Jessie only intended to temporarily foster Terra, but her compassionate nature led her to make the decision to officially adopt her. As a result of Jessie’s love and care, Terra is now content and in good health, despite the challenges she faced as a young pup.
