While on their way back home in Georgia, Adri and her partner encountered a lost Beagle on a deserted road. Concerned for the dog’s safety, they quickly stopped their car and approached her. The poor pup looked scared and lonely, which tugged at their heartstrings.
Adri gently comforted the Beagle, giving her some much-needed reassurance. Determined to help her, the couple brought her along to their home. Their mission now was to win over Mocha’s trust and make her feel loved and safe.
The couple held onto hope that someone would come looking for the sweet pup, even though she didn’t have any identification. They reached out to shelters and shared pictures of the dog online, but unfortunately, there were no owners searching for her.
The dog was extremely frightened and wouldn’t make eye contact with her rescuers. She kept her tail between her legs at all times.

“It was evident to us right away that she wasn’t accustomed to being indoors. She also seemed uncomfortable with human contact,” Adri shared with The Dodo.

Despite Mocha’s initial hesitation to interact with Adri, she gradually began to warm up to her human mom through the glass patio door. Adri would reach out her hand, calling for Mocha, and eventually, the pup started to respond, encouraged by seeing the other dogs do the same. It was a slow process, but Mocha eventually felt safe enough to give Adri sweet kisses through the door when she reached out her hand.
The Dodo reported a heartwarming moment that occurred after four weeks had passed. Mocha, the cat, surprised Adri by approaching her and sitting next to her willingly for the first time. Adri was ecstatic at this breakthrough, as it was a sign of Mocha’s growing trust in her. Adri shared, “It was the first time she sat next to me without any treats involved. Her eyes were a bit nervous, but she stayed by my side.” The couple continued to show Mocha affection, and overtime, her fears melted away thanks to their unwavering love and patience.
