“Unleashed: A Dog’s Tale of Determination, Bonds, and Triumph over Challenges”

In Lebanon, a poor dog was found chained by the roadside with one ear missing, blind, pregnant, and riddled with 17 pellet gunshot wounds.

Maggie was fortunate to be rescued by a compassionate individual who spotted her, scooped her up, and took her to Beirut for necessary care. But her journey to recovery was still a long way off.

The pup, now affectionately called Maggie, caught the attention of Wild At Heart Foundation, a UK-based rescue group. They made the decision to save Maggie and find a temporary foster home for her.

It was at this moment that Kasey Carlin first laid eyes on Maggie. After her mother saw a picture of the dog, she simply said, “We must provide a foster home for this dog.”

Kasey was shocked to find out that Maggie had been shot in the eyes with an air pistol, leading to infections that resulted in the removal of her eyes. Upon returning to the UK, Kasey discovered numerous pellets scattered throughout Maggie’s body.

Despite the immense suffering Maggie had endured, her kind and loving nature left a lasting impression on Kasey. Moved by Maggie’s resilience, Kasey decided to adopt her as her own.

“Maggie may not belong to a high-end designer breed, with her lack of eyes, missing ear, scars, and saggy skin, but none of that bothers her because she exudes pure love and joy wherever she goes,” Kasey shares. “Embracing our differences and quirks is what truly makes us beautiful, just like Maggie.”

Thanks to Kasey’s loving care, Maggie has thrived and blossomed.

“As many of you already know, Maggie’s heart knows no bounds! Her infectious spirit and larger-than-life personality never fail to bring a smile to your face,” Kasey writes on Instagram. “There’s a calming aura about her that touches the hearts of many, serving as a reminder of our own inner strength.”

From the first moment Kasey set eyes on Maggie, she had a gut feeling that Maggie would excel as a therapy dog. Determined, she embarked on a journey to train Maggie, and it didn’t take long before Maggie proved Kasey right by successfully completing the training.

“Kasey and I are planning to visit schools and interact with children directly,” Kasey explains. “Even though what happened to Maggie was extremely upsetting, if her story can teach and motivate others to make a positive impact, then we are happy to play our part in making the world a better place.”
Maggie enjoys going for long walks every day.

Maggie loves her furry companion Mishka like a sister, and the two enjoy snuggling up together.

Sometimes, memories of her past troubles resurface, but luckily, Mishka is always there to offer comfort. Due to the trauma Maggie endured and the limited medical care she received, her ear did not heal properly. As a result, she often experiences ear infections in her affected ear, which has a narrow canal and misshapen cartilage reminiscent of cauliflower ear in rugby players.

I need to stay extra vigilant when it comes to her ear health. Despite not showing much distress, I decided to give Maggie a day off to rest and relax. Mishka can sense when something is amiss and constantly tries to comfort Maggie by gently licking her sore ear.

I am incredibly thankful for the strong bond between these two. The way they care for each other is truly heartwarming, showing how deep their love and connection truly is.

Maggie has made incredible progress since being discovered tethered to a crate. Thanks to the unwavering efforts of compassionate rescuers and the power of social media, she is now thriving and enjoying every moment to the fullest.
