Loyal pup refuses to leave owner’s car crash spot for 18 months, inspiring community to construct him a sanctuary.

If you’re looking for a movie that will definitely tug at your heartstrings and leave you reaching for the tissues, look no further than the beloved film “Hachi: A Dog’s Tale.” Inspired by the incredible true story of a devoted and heartbroken Japanese Akita who faithfully waited for his owner at Tokyo’s Shibuya railway station for nine long years after his passing.

Known for his unwavering loyalty and devotion, Hachiko has been immortalized in various forms of media across the globe, including books, movies, and memorials. Interestingly, a similar tale of loyalty is unfolding in Greece, where a faithful family dog has refused to leave the spot where his owner tragically passed away nearly a year and a half ago.

Get ready to grab a tissue, because this story will once again show us just how amazing our dogs truly are. Even if you already consider yourself a loyal and loving companion, this furry family member will show you a whole new level of love and loyalty.

As reported by Nafpaktia News, the owner of the dog was a man named Haris, aged 40, who passed away on 9th November 2017 following a tragic accident involving a cement mixer on the Old Ring Road close to the River Evinos. This news deeply affected the community, especially since Haris’s brother had also lost his life in a similar incident just a few years before.

It’s still a puzzle how this contemporary Hachiko ended up at the exact location of the tragic accident, seven-and-a-half kilometers from his Nafpaktos home. Despite the attempts of the locals to remove him and find him a new family, he remains steadfast at his owner’s shrine by the roadside, grieving for a year and a half now.

Moved by the dog’s unwavering loyalty to his deceased owner, the community has stopped trying to persuade the determined pup to leave his newfound home. Instead, they have chosen to improve his quality of life by building a small shelter for him beside the highway, creating a shrine in memory of his owner, and ensuring he is fed and hydrated as he gazes into the distance, eagerly anticipating the return of his beloved human. This faithful companion has earned the nickname “Greek Hachiko” as a tribute to the famous Akita known for its loyalty.
