Heart-wrenching sight of a distressed canine howling in agony, pierced by a multitude of golden spines on its face, head, snout, ears, and limbs.

In Sao Paulo, Brazil, Thor’s owner discovered him with feathers piercing his body. The pictures reveal a golden-brown dog with numerous yellow quills on its face, head, nose, ears, and limbs. Facing a hefty vet bill, Adriano Bertoline, a jobless individual, turned to crowdfunding to gather funds for Thor’s medical care.

Local politician Dr. Jose Roberto Apolari came to the rescue, taking Thor to the hospital and providing financial support. The brave three-year-old battled with a porcupine for the second time in a year, resulting in severe injuries.

Good morning, everyone! Waking up to find my dog in a tough spot with porcupine quills, I reached out online for assistance. Can anyone recommend a vet or hospital to help him out? Worried about the cost, but determined to get him the care he needs. Thank you in advance for any help!

City Councilor Dr. Jose Roberto Apolari came to the rescue after hearing the dog owner’s plea for help. In a heartfelt Facebook post, Adriano expressed gratitude, calling Dr. Apolari an angel in his dog’s life because he couldn’t afford a private vet. Adriano, who is currently unemployed and has four children, shared how the city council went above and beyond by bringing Thor to their home, covering the vet expenses.

Thor’s owner shared that this is the second time the dog has had an unfortunate run-in with a porcupine within the span of a year. Back in February 2021, Adriano’s buddy, who was employed at a private animal hospital, came to the rescue of the wounded pooch.

The dog went after the porcupine, but it was hard to tell right away how he was faring in the scuffle.
