One special kitten, affectionately named Matilda after being rescued, managed to effortlessly steal her human’s heart. It’s important to acknowledge that there are moments when we come across a picture or video of a kitten or cat online, and an inexplicable bond forms instantaneously, pulling at our heartstrings.
With her stunning beauty, an abundance of irresistible fluff, and cool calico markings, it seemed impossible to believe that Freya the Fluff was still up for adoption. But, to everyone’s surprise, she was indeed available. And from that moment on, her new owner knew that their lives were about to change for the better. On January 12th, we welcomed a charming bundle of joy into our lives. It took us nearly two hours to reach our destination before finally meeting our furry companion. Surprisingly, she remained remarkably well-behaved throughout the entire car ride, not uttering a single sound! This daring little sweetheart has an adventurous spirit and a deep affection for humans. Her journey began when she was discovered precariously perched on someone’s window screen, leading to her rescue at the tender age of eight weeks. The moment I laid eyes on her delightful orange face on Petfinder, my heart was instantly captivated.
How did Freya come into your life?
I had been longing for a kitten for several months and would frequently browse online for potential furry companions. One day, while scrolling through various adoption websites, I stumbled upon Freya, whose adorable little orange face immediately captured my heart. Excitedly, I shared her photo with my Fiancé, who also expressed great interest in her. Despite knowing that Freya was attending an adoption event and would likely receive numerous applications, we took a chance and applied for her. To our sheer delight, we were incredibly fortunate to be chosen as her new family. It truly felt as though destiny had brought us together.
How did Freya get her name?
Initially, Freya’s rescue name was Matilda, which we knew we would change once she came home with us. With a few days to spare after our application was approved, I eagerly brainstormed names for our newest addition. Initially, I was set on naming her Aelin. However, upon meeting her, it became clear that the name didn’t quite suit her unique personality. That’s when my Fiancé suggested the name Freya, inspired by a beloved character from one of my favorite shows, The Originals. Intrigued, I decided to give it a try. As soon as I called out “Freya,” she immediately turned around and let out the tiniest, most endearing meow, as if to signal her acceptance of the name. It was a heartwarming moment that solidified her identity as Freya.
What is her personality like?
Freya is a bundle of pure joy and curiosity. She radiates a playful and mischievous energy that never fails to bring a smile to my face. From the moment she entered our lives, it was evident that she possessed an unwavering spirit and a zest for life. Freya loves to explore her surroundings with boundless enthusiasm, always eager to discover new toys and hidden corners of our home. Despite her adventurous nature, she also has a gentle and affectionate side. Freya adores snuggling up on our laps and showering us with gentle headbutts and soft purrs. It is in these moments of tranquility that her true loving nature shines brightest.
What are her favorite hobbies?
Freya’s favorite pastime is undoubtedly chasing after anything that moves. Whether it’s a dangling string, a bouncing ball, or a fluttering butterfly outside the window, she can’t resist pouncing and chasing with unwavering determination. This instinctual playfulness brings immense joy to both her and us. Additionally, Freya has developed a fascination for birdwatching. She spends hours perched on sunlit windowsills, her eyes fixated on the feathered creatures fluttering about in the distance. It’s a form of entertainment that never fails to captivate her attention.
Does she have any cat or dog housemates at home?
Currently, Freya is the sole ruler of our household. As much as we cherish her presence, we haven’t introduced any other furry companions into our home just yet. However, we have been contemplating the idea of expanding our fur family in the future, perhaps providing Freya with a feline or canine playmate to share adventures with. For now, though, Freya basks in the undivided attention and affection we shower upon her.

Freya is hands down the most audacious and fearless kitten I have ever come across! Her self-assured nature and boldness are truly remarkable. Moreover, she possesses an immeasurable capacity for affection and adores being around people. It’s heartwarming to see her contently nestling in your arms, and she’ll happily shadow your every step around the house just to observe what you’re up to.
Speaking of her pastimes, Freya thoroughly enjoys perching herself by the window and eagerly observing the mesmerizing world of birds and squirrels in our yard. Additionally, she’s quite the intellectual prodigy as she eagerly engages in learning new tricks. As of now, she has remarkably mastered the command of “sit,” which is truly a testament to her eagerness to acquire knowledge. We’re currently in the process of teaching her the commands of “down” and “go into her backpack.” Freya is also an avid enthusiast of playtime, which undoubtedly contributes to her vibrant personality.
Does Freya share her home with any furry companions like cats or dogs?
Freya enjoys the company of her 10-year-old canine sibling, Kayden, and she also has a feline friend named Dior!

Freya is undoubtedly the most affectionate cat I’ve ever encountered! She adores people, and anyone who interacts with her can’t help but adore her in return. Whenever she meets someone new, she immediately approaches them and leans in to request some petting!
