My cousin Mose Bengal informed me that the unique “charcoal” pattern on Bengal cats is a result of breeding a domestic cat with a non-agouti variant and an Asian Leopard Cat with an agouti variant.
During our conversation with Mose’s owners, we inquired about the story behind Mose’s arrival into their lives. According to his mother, the breeder reached out to her and proposed adopting a “project Bengal” since Mose was extremely wild as a kitten. However, she couldn’t resist his captivating green eyes, and that’s how Mose became a part of their family.
